Should I resign from current employer before EP approval?

Post by Camelatsyd » Mon, 17 Feb 2020 5:47 am

hi everyone, hubby has just landed a job in Singapore . We are based in Sydney now and hope to spend a holiday somewhere during the break(between jobs).
However, we are wondering if it is safe to resign from current employer before EP approval?

I do not recommend resigning before the IPA (in-principle approval) is issued. Sometimes there are issues that prevent the approval of the employment pass.

No (agree with bro75)
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Also Corvid-19 may cause a change in plans. Make sure any insurance you buy does not exclude it and watch out for "quarantine" and 'travel disruption' get out clauses. The insurers are adding those in now.
