Condo Security demanding full name & address on entry

Post by martincymru » Fri, 07 Feb 2020 2:38 pm

What is the protocol / law here in Sg that mandates the condo security demanding your full name and address ( + view your ID / IC / passport) when visiting a condo unit?

(..... at the same time a car with 4 passengers sailed in without being asked! ........inconsistent....).

What about office towers etc........ same scenario surely?

The excuse "need to know where you live [address] 'cos of the coronavirus".

I reckon that at the moment, if you were not a resident at said condo, it would probably be allowed due to the reason given, primarily for contact tracing if it became necessary due to an infection in the condo/unit. The care with 4 passengers......Maybe they are residents and known by the security guards? However, I cannot confirm nor deny this. Just my opinion.

There is an actual act that covers this (The Private Security Act I believe) and then there is the fact we are now orange level (which means contact tracing for sure) and then there are the condo by laws.
