Hi singaporeflyer, yes i resign and left sg 2016 and go back sg 2017:)
All your experience in SG prior to 2017, will reset to almost to 0 for PR evaluation. So, I would say your chance for PR will be very very low.

You may get it, except salary is slightly low. But Bro PR and owns a condo may not add points in my view.

Hello,

Thank you for this very informative thread and clear guidance. Could you please give me your opinion on my profile:

Gender: F
Age: 43
Marital status: Single
Nationality: Spain
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Diplomas: BS, MBA (Europe)
Industry: Tech company (Facebook)
Role: Program manager
Salary: 250k
Pass: EP, same company since 2014
Stay in Singapore: 11y combined since 2009 (had an EP, PEP and unemployed for ~6months in total in between jobs before the 2014 job and only ever left Singapore 1-2 weeks when unemployed to renew visa). I understand 2014 is a reset point for duration of stay for this application .

If I were to guesstimate I’d say very low to no chances. Cons are age, ethnicity and probably job isn’t specialised enough (that could change in the next 6 months towards cybersecurity specialisation). I think I missed my window and would have had better chances ~3-4y ago if I had planned it from the start, but keen to hear your thoughts on this self-assessment!

Chance is a bit low because of ethnicity, age. But I would say go ahead and apply once. sometimes surprising things happen.

I think you said it - if you applied a few years back your chances would have bene higher.
Your salary is decent, but ethnicity and age are against you.
You are on point there as well.

The problem with your ethnicity is that for all Singaporeans marrying caucasians, it's is their caucasian spouses that get priority in the already limited caucasian bucket.

I would apply if I were you. The application fee is not too high, but don't get your hopes up. If you get it, great. If not, don't worry.

Facebook also isn't popular with the gahmen, so that might also play in the decision ...

I find this discussion fascinating. I am being considered for a job at one of the university's in sng as a senior hire (ie, tenured). I am a caucasian from north america and have been told I can get PR status after one year. Is this true? What would happen if my application is turned down? I know nothing about living in sng so any advice would be appreciated.

Not really true unless you are in bringing in some really really special expertise/skill. But it may be possible after 4-5 years. How old are you between? Are u coming alone or with family? What is your education, experience etc?

caucasian will be coming under the other quota for PR, which is less. But it is not impossible.

Surely standards for academic hires (ie, professors) are different from people in IT and banking? You can't compare an office worker to a university professor otherwise how would sng attract top scholars to move there? Can you point me to the website that gives the criteria for PR status?
