Ethnicity is a major negative. It will rather depend on what kind of research you are doing and whether it is specifically what Singapore is looking for. It might be in a field they want to be strong in, but with only 1 year's work experience it probably does you no favours.
You never know, but I would recommend waiting for at least 3 tax years before you apply.
