PR approval chance in 2020

Post by sanji_hao » Thu, 06 Feb 2020 10:12 pm

Hi everyone! Fyi I plan to apply for PR after the tax assessment this year. I have been working in Singapore for more than one year and would like to try my chances. Unfortunately I do not have any family tie here. I also understand that this year is election year so the outcome can be quite uncertain :???: . Some details:

Age : 27
Race : Malaysian Chinese
Gender : Male
Marital Status : Single
Religion : Buddhist
Education : Master
Current Field of Work : Investment
Length of stay : 1 year 2 months
No of tax return : Because I only work for 1 month + in 2018 so I wasn't taxed in 2019, but I do filed for tax return at that time.
Salary : Basic 60k+ ; Gross 90k+ with bonus
Pass : EP

I am quite new to this forum, would be really grateful for any help or guidance :D

50-50 chance.

If rejected it will be mostly due to residential requirement, in this case wait for 1.5 years and apply again. You will get it.

I see. Thanks so much for your help, I guess I will wait longer for a higher chance of approval :)

Two consecutive years of employment (24 consecutive months) or three tax assessments (will be at least or more than 24 months of consecutive employment but spread across three tax years) and at least one EP renewal (initial EPs are usually 24 months). ;-)

Hi All,
This is a very hot subject and I'm so grateful seeing people are so generous sharing their tips and insights.
May I also ask our chance of approval?

My husband:
44, Filipino American, got an BA from the US, now studying Master of Counseling in an international institute
Working as English Teacher for a Renowned English school
Came to Singapore in 2015, got his EP renewed 3 times
Salary is 6k/month
paid Singapore tax each year
My husband is very good at paying bills on time:)

Myself:
Vietnamese, 30, got a BA in Vietnam, been here since 2012 under S pass, changed jobs 3 times , worked in Restaurants . salary was 2.5k/month

We got married at ROM since 2016, since then I've stayed at home under Dependent Pass . We have two kids, 3.5 yos girl and 1.5 yos boy, both born in Singapore.

Our family applied once (2018) and got rejected before we got the boy.

So far as I know, our ethnicity, our salary, my husband's age and the fact that I don't have income are kind of hindrances.
Nonetheless I hope with our boy, we will have better chance to get approved (compared to last time) as Singapore fertility rate is quite low (whilst they need men for Defense)

We love Singapore so much and hope to make this place our permanent home.
What is our chance this time if we apply this year?
And what supporting documents that you think we should include in our application to get better chance?
I can speak Chinese. Will that help?

Thank you so much for your time and help!
Cynthia

Chance will be less because of
1. Ethinicity
2. Only one of you working and salary is not high
3. Not in a occupation that is in high demand in Singapore

Submit ALL documents that they have asked for. Don't think from the angle that extra documents can increase the chance. Paying bills on time also does not give you any extra points.

Sorry to say the above.

Very hard to get PR when he is on S Pass and also the main applicant.

Why is he still on an S Pass with his salary? If his employer was smart they would put him on an EP as the company has to pay Foreign Worker Levies on WP & S pass holders, but not on EP holders. Strange.

You can try, but please, go in with your eyes wide open. You all are in the "0ther's' category and not of the favoured races here so your odds are actually rather slim. But, one can never tell, you buys your ticket and takes yer chances. Good Luck - I think you are going to need it.

What is his fixed salary without the bonus? How many years of work experience does he have? This would have decided him being on S Pass ?
