Hey guys,

Hope you're all well! I'm thinking about applying for PR but I wasn't sure if I should wait until I've been here for 2 years?

Profile
- Age: 27
- Race: Chinese (Most of my family are still Chinese citizens if that is taken into consideration)
- Nationality: Australian (I moved from China aged 8 and got my citizenship aged 15)
- Gender: F
- Marital Status: Single
- Education:
Bachelor of International Studies, University of Technology Sydney
Master International Business, University of Sydney
- Industry: Big Tech / FAANG
- Position: Account Management
- Year basic salary 96k / 125K with bonus + stocks
- EP holder
- Live in Singapore: 1 years

Would be great to understand what you think my chances are and if I should wait vs apply now.

Thank you for your time!

Under normal circumstances, I would agree with SF but on this one, I fear there might be some backlash considering she has already changed citizenship once already. They may feel that she will not make potential citizenship (permanent citizenship) so why take up a PR slot as she has already shown she has now qualms about jumping ship. (Yes, I am aware she was only 8 at the time).

Again, she does have ethnicity, gender, age and education to her favour. I wish her luck but I think waiting two years or after your first EP renewal, (whichever comes 2nd) might help alleviate the negative in my first paragraph.

Would it be different if the person had changed citizenship to somewhere less desirable than Australia? It would not surprise me if statistically those who are already citizens of Australia, Canada, etc. have a lower likelihood of conversion to SGC.

You can try, but chance may be still low. increase your salary and try after 2 years if rejected.

Have we reached a point where 96k salary for a 28 yo is considered low?

Not really. But when compared with peers in the pool, we don't know what the others earn too. just for example if a 29-30 years old earns 110K and has other criteria met, he may be selected? just my view.

Well, we've seen it time and time again, the shortsightedness of the government (they look 15 not 30 years down the road. Stop at 2 caused the immigration issues of today. They cannot reverse it as locals now make more money to spend on themselves, so the TFR has dropped to less than 50% of what is needed to just stay at replacement without immigration. We've seen them back & forth how many times since covid started. They will look at this and who knows. What I/We've seen in the past, it wouldn't surprise me. But at the rate PRC is buying up Australia it's real future is uncertain So it may not be a change of citizenship after all in the future. What you say is possible I suppose, but I'm just trying to put myself into the shoes of a civil servant following the gov't's dogma and backward thinking. ;-)

Hi Experts,

I need help here and i am really tensed now.
My appointment for PR completion is next week and i am missing by original degree completion certificate. I only have soft copy with me. Please advise.
Try call ICA and see what they advise. We had something similar but for birth certificate since the original was abroad. Called and the officer said to bring a printed scanned copy, though yours might differ. Perhaps they might extend the IPA. Best to check with them.
Typically a scanned or faxed copy should suffice, if the original copy is inaccessible.
Hi All, I just wanted to update my status that i have completed the formalities today morning and everything went smooth. I produce scanned copy of the missing cert and they were ok with it. This forum has helped me alot and most of the information i got it from here were found accurate with my real experience. Thanks all and good luck to others

Is it the general consensus of this forum that it’s very low PR approval chance until after 3 years of work in SG, regardless of good the rest of the candidate’s profile is?
