Is it the general consensus of this forum that it’s very low PR approval chance until after 3 years of work in SG, regardless of good the rest of the candidate’s profile is?
It depends on the profile. Having a third leg isn’t going to turn anyone on, but being Malaysian Chinese might.

Hey guys,

Hope you're all well! I'm thinking about applying for PR but I wasn't sure if I should wait until I've been here for 2 years?

Profile
- Age: 27
- Race: Chinese (Most of my family are still Chinese citizens if that is taken into consideration)
- Nationality: Australian (I moved from China aged 8 and got my citizenship aged 15)
- Gender: F
- Marital Status: Single
- Education:
Bachelor of International Studies, University of Technology Sydney
Master International Business, University of Sydney
- Industry: Big Tech / FAANG
- Position: Account Management
- Year basic salary 96k / 125K with bonus + stocks
- EP holder
- Live in Singapore: 1 years

Would be great to understand what you think my chances are and if I should wait vs apply now.

Thank you for your time!
Very low chance till you complete atleast 3 years of work in SG
Is it the general consensus of this forum that it’s very low PR approval chance until after 3 years of work in SG, regardless of good the rest of the candidate’s profile is?
example: if the profile is a specialist doctor/surgeon, scientist, etc - the 3 year work in SG requirement MAY not apply.

If you have pass 21 yrs old.
You are at your own.
Household income has no relationship to you.

Just curious, why your mother is PR and you are in student pass?
Why she didn't apply together with you?

I find it strange that your mom is a PR but you are not. Is it because she didn't include you in her PR application? If yes then your chance of getting PR will be very slim to none, because the government will think that your mom purposely didn't include you in her application so you wouldn't be a second generation PR and thus will not need to serve 2 years in NS, even if this wasn't her intention.

I have applied 3 times. The very first time I applied together with my mother and my step dad was the sponsor. The second time I applied under my step dad's sponsorship. The third time was under my mother's sponsorship. I signed the form for NS for all three applications.

Thanks for the clarification. Not sure why the government gave it to your mom but not you, this is very strange. Maybe you can try to apply again without their sponsorship, i.e. when you start working and holding EP.

Thanks for the advice. I'm thinking about applying this year under foreign student.

Hi all, it’s time to give back to the community.

My PR application with my husband under PTS scheme is approved, after 17 months of waiting!
Timeline:
- applied March 2020
- We changed job around Sep/Oct 2020 and informed ICA with the changes. I also changed passport as the old one expired.
- I was asked for supplemental documents in Feb 2021
- In April 2021, husband lost his job but got a new one quickly, however there was a gap of a few weeks in his employment due to the EP application process. During this time he was on SVP and applied for temporary extension via his old employer (during covid we cannot fly home. Embassy did not schedule any flight for him). I informed ICA and attached his offer letter/contract of his new job and told them I would update them with the EP scan whenever it’s available
- In June 2021, my husband received $100 fine for overstaying 10 days. Because his new employer did not activate his IPA before his SVP expired (he informed the employer about his SVP expiry date but the HR dropped the ball on the IPA activation). We really freaked out because this is a big stain in our application and profile, however it’s really not intentional because he received the IPA before the SVP expired. Nevertheless it is our fault for not pushing the company even more, or for not taking safe precaution and just extend the SVP. We took ownership of this mishap and informed ICA promptly on the mistake and our intention to settle the fine asap. The fine was paid through the employer (MOM giro them and issued a receipt). Also I notified ICA on my husband’s new EP during this time
- 29 July: noticed the upload document button disappeared (didn’t know exactly when), but I knew from reading this forum that the decision was going to be made soon
-3 Aug: checked cpf declaration page and found our ICA REF
-5 Aug mid-night: status changed to approved. Checked mailbox on the same day and received the IPA and package.

I hope this information is helpful.

Recently got an offer which will increase the gross salary by <more than 50%>. Not sure if taking it will show instability especially since I've only been on the current EP for 3 months.
Will be tough as you went back for 2 years and now back. if rejected, apply after 2 years of working in SG

If you follow SF advice, should be smooth sailing as the only stumbling block at the moment is the fact that you left and returned two years later, which means your time only starts with your return to employment in SG. You tick all the other boxes with no issues. Take the new job and apply after you have been here employed for two years as noted.

NB: If you apply now or in 9 months, probable rejection and then, normally would need to wait two years from rejection. So don't waste a year, just wait till two years up and then apply.

I believe you’ll be grouped with “Others” (Filipinos used to get away with “Malay” in the past, until that caused an uproar).

The “Others” race has a small quota. In the past, economic downturns were often a good time for “Others” to apply for PR because lots of Caucasians were sent back to their home country. Nowadays, it seems PR is more guarded and mostly for prospective citizens.

As for your odds of success, I’d like to think you have a chance, but I’ll let the experts weigh in.
