We moved into our apartment last week and it is so noisy. At night we have to use ear plugs, and in the evenings after work we find it even hard to hear the television. We checked the place out in the morning, so the noise seemed fine, but now!. Does anyone have any ideas? The noise is coming through the very thin glass windows and balcony doors. One idea online was noise reduction curtains, but we cannot seem to find them anywhere in Singapore.

Is it the traffic noise or neighbours' noise?

Keep your windows closed at night and hope you get used to the noise soon. Seriously, you will get accustomed to the traffic noise in time & there is nothing you can do to change it -- if you are not already keeping the windows closed and using the aircon at night, try that as it should help.

I wish the solution was that simple. The noise is crazy with all the windows closed, and the air-conditioning turned up full. Any ideas?

Sorry but the only solution is for you to MOVE then...
We had the same problem and nothing we could do about it. If you rented through an agent try to get out of your place with his/her help.

Novena Suites. Just signed a two year lease, so we are looking for anyone to offer suggestions regarding solutions.

Given the consideration that you are just signed a 2 year contract, is there any clause in the contract that prohibits you from renting it to others? considering that you would relocate to a quieter place of you're preference. Just bear in mind that, since you're the signatory of the contract, the new tenants should deal with you, while you dealing with the contract you signed.
