PR Interview Letter

Post by meraki1990 » Sat, 25 Jan 2020 2:45 pm

Hey everyone,

I saw some older posts (7~ years ago) that mentioned something about an ICA interview for PR.

I just got this letter for an interview invite - I applied October last year, so it's actually surprisingly quick. (And since ePR application kicked in, haven't seen any posts outlining this interview process)

Is there anything I should be aware of?

I am in the process of changing jobs, so I'll probably bring my IPA letter as well as the new offer letter that shows my increment in salary. Wife also got a job so I'll bring her offer letter and IPA as well.

And I also applied together with my wife(non Singaporean as well), but the letter does not state if I should bring her with me to the interview.. Should I bring her to the interview as well?

Appreciate any insight, wanted to check if anything changed regarding the interview being the 'final steps' before approval.

Thanks all!

Without actually seeing the contents of the letter verbatim (not paraphrased), it's hard to tell.

Hmm, didn’t know there were different variants of the letter.

It states -

Dear xx,

We would be grateful if you could come for an interview at the office xxx on xx at xx in connection with your application for Singapore Permanent Residence.

-

Guess it’s too vague to tell - just wasn’t sure if this was for everyone post ePR change.

Thanks.

That sounds like more a verification of something in your application that required clarification. They have done "interviews" in 10 years or so. Back when I got my PR in the mid 1990's you always had an interview with a couple of ICA officers. You still didn't know whether you had gotten PR or not but the interview was required of all applicants that were not summarily rejected. I haven't heard of one for quite a few years other than the interview that is actually the finalization and issuance of your PR. It could be just the formalities of your PR.

Maybe somebody here who has obtained their PR via the current methodology with eFiling can be a better judge, as mine was a quarter of a century ago!!!

Hi meraki1990,

My husband had just received the same letter. Appreciate if you could share what are the interview questions and what are the chances of PR approval if you are called for an interview. So is your PR application approved? Thank you!

@bluesky_jayden @zannaruz Can I know did the letter came after the 4 tick boxes disappear or it's irrelevant to that? Apart from the letter, is there any notification via email/sms on this?

I am wondering now should I be monitoring the letterbox more frequently. My landlady guards her mailbox with her life. Hence, I generally route all my e-shopping to my office address instead. Only once in a blue moon she brings back over 15-25letters from the mail and will ask if 'this is mine', 'that is mine'. Another issue is she doesn't read english at all. I am kinda worried she'll throw it away without realising it. lol

Hi Whatamelon,
What do you mean by the 4 tick boxes? For my case, it is a physical letter that comes after about 8 months of my application, no sms/email notification at all.
Hope this helps. Thanks.
