Wanted to know what we could add to our application for acceptance and when would be a good time to apply again. We have social ties here - Aunt, Uncle, cousins who are SC, dunno if it helps.

If not any "MAJOR" changes, as you are a researcher, you should know, same data in, same data out. Wait for 2 years then try again.

Make some good progression in career, salary, etc and then reapply after 2-3 years.
SC - Aunt, Uncle, Cousins - Does not add any points in the application.

Try again and you may get it. Are you not working? If you are working and have a good track record for income, it may make things easier

Hard to find job with my education level. I just got the LTVP+ last year. Previously companies reluctant to apply for LOC quoting no headcount for foreigners

If that’s the case, since you’re currently unemployed, have you thought about taking courses or certification to enhance your employability and PR chances?

That’s what we always tell those who asked about how to improve their chances of success in appeals or reapplication. And you have more room for improvements than many of the other applicants. If you could achieve that, you actually stand a chance as you have the family ties box checked.

Are you a clone of your friend or vice versa?

What’s your nationality and race exactly? If you are intentionally withholding this information, which could be one of the key determining factors, how are we to advise you and why should we to start with?

Did you include husband and kids in the previous 2 applications? I got a feeling part of the reasons for rejection could be your stay at home husband, which is still not that well perceived or widely accepted in Asian culture.

What circumstances have changed significantly that you think will make your profile much better than a year ago? Other than longer length of stay and one more tax assessment. Or else, it’s just going to be another futile exercise, bearing in mind that you’ve been rejected 3x.

Very good profile - education (more so in local school then uni), married couple, optimal age, length of stay in SG and above average income. If this application came from a Malaysian couple, I think it could probably be approved within 6 months despite the pandemic period we are in.

But, now comes the big but, your nationality and ethnicity are not in your favour, and it’s been the case for a while now. If you are Vietnamese Chinese, your chances may go up a bit. See if SMS replies to this, he’ll be able to provide some insights. That said, you can still go ahead and apply, and see all the positives outweigh the nationality/ethnicity point. And if you do, be prepared for a long ride with ICA.
