Moving to Singapore with US born kid and Indian Citizenship

Post by ShivangiJadhav » Sat, 11 Jan 2020 4:11 am

Hi,
Me and my husband has a full time job in US and we are Indian Citizens. We have 2 year old daughter who is born in US. We want to move to singapore as it is near to India and frequent travel to India to visit family would be easy. Also we have heard many good things about Singapore so thinking of settling down there, though I could google most of the things, an advice from any resident there would be always helpful with respect to pros and cons.
I work in BSS domain for mobile operators while my husband works in banking domain for payments and securities.

The basic thing I would like to start is with job search, how can I land a job in Singapore while I am in USA, i know I will need a sponsorer, is there are any full proof ways please advise. Also what benefits/drawbacks my daughter can have wrt education as she is US born child. Please provide a guideline how to relocate to Singapore and plan future there

Even though remote interviews are possible, it is very rare. May be just 5%. Most of them prefer face to face interviews.

Regarding to your daughter education, whether she is a US citizen or Indian Citizen will not matter much as in any case she will be treated as a foreigner.

If you a planning to come here without a job but with the whole family, please be advised that you your immigration visa has to be obtained from the Indian Embassy prior to embarking on the journey, however, you daughter, provided you have gotten her a US Passport, will enjoy a 90 day visa free waiver to Singapore. As noted by Singaporeflyer, it will be virtually impossible to get a position here from overseas unless you really have a niche position that the government feels they absolutely need. So, what I would suggest is finding a company in the US with a local office in Singapore, get hired there and transferred to the Singapore office. Much easier. Not guaranteed by any means, but a lot better chance that way.

Thank you @singaporeflyer @sundaymorningstaple and @lot286. Yes I know company internal switch is the best and easiest way, however I wonder if there are any recruiting agencis or relocation agencies who work specifically to onboard international candidates as I guess there must be many people aspring to move to Singapore.

You will find that the problem is with recruitment agencies and the way they are governed here in Singapore by the Ministry of Manpower. Recruiters are not allowed to charge the applicants with the exception of an administrative fee. Recruiters are paid by their clients (which are the companies looking for specific manpower). Recruiters don't look for jobs for people here, they look for people for their clients (the companies) as they are the ones who pay the fees.
