Advantages of PR?

Post by Ausguest » Sun, 13 Mar 2005 1:22 pm

Hi,

Please advise if being a PR (6 months after arriving into Singapore) offer any advantages? Are there any support or subsidies that are available to PR and not to foreigners? Such as Maid Levy (esp. as I have 2 small kids), Child Care or Schooling support?

Look forward to hearing.

A useful rule of thumb in Singapore is that there are no subsidies for support for anything.

The major benefit of PR is that if your job ends for any reason, you have some time to find a new one instead of getting kicked out of the country immediately.

Hi,

About the question you posted.

There is difference between the subsidy of school fee payment in government school between a PR holder and foreigner.

PR holder do get education subsidy. Foreigner will have to forck out quite a bit and also have to contribute to a certain amount to education fund whereas for PR, they don't have to.

Hope this is useful. :)
