Working and Possibly Moving to Singapore

Post by Sigmundo76 » Sun, 05 Jan 2020 3:08 pm

Hi there,

The company I work for wants me to move to Singapore and be the Area Sales Manager. Initially we don't want or need an office/warehouse and we do already have a number of customers in Singapore that are serviced from Australia. My questions are:
What visa do I need, if any? Employment Pass?
Would I be taxed in Singapore as well as my home country tax?
This may mean renting a home. Is this easy enough to do?
Or would we be better just doing trips every fortnight or so?

If this isn't enough information, please let me what else would help.

Appreciate your help, thanks.

Hi there, I used this site alot when deciding my relocation to dos and when researching about Singapore. There's everything from visas, to housing and cost of living. Hope it helps! https://www.moovaz.com/singapore-moving-guide/

But from a personal point of view, with a job secured, acquiring the visa is not difficult. If your company can cover your cost of housing that'd be perfect. Houses are not a scarcity in Singapore so it will not be a problem as well.

Flying every fortnight is cool too but it really just depends on you and your company. Paying for flights every other day would be costly, coupled with the exorbitant prices of hotels... Calculate the different costs and find the more time and cost efficient option :)

Yes you will need an employment pass.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!
