This may be off topic but us and another couple are spending a week in Singapore next October, after attending an ex military reunion in Penang.
Would appreciate any advice as to where to stay. The last time we visited was when we were based at Butterworth and came down for a week in 1976 to stay at the YWCA.
Would hopefully like somewhere central or near a train station and food court.

There are still YMCA's here. You won't have much luck with AirBNB (mostly illegal. Try booking.com

Booking.com has a useful map feature. Shows price and location. Pretty easy to choose that way. Also read the the comments on any place you are interested in, that often helps with selection.

if you're on a budget, Air Bnb, it's not being cheap but some Air Bnb's have good facilities as well
