Some numbers from the Hong Kong district elections today (the only way the general population can vote):
Voter turnout was 71.2%, compared with 47% in the last elections in 2015.
Pro-democracy (i.e. anti China) parties won 17 out of 18 district councils. Previously all councils were under pro-China control.
Pro-China candidates received 13.3% of the popular vote, compared with 54.6% previously.
A very strong message has been sent by the people.
