Hi guys,
I am moving to Singapore from the US starting Jan 2020. My employer in the US wants me to keep working for them. I am trying to figure out what is the easiest and most effective way to continue working for my current company while I live in Singapore.
The options I have came up with are as follow:
1) my employer continues to pay me in my US bank account and I would do all my accounting in the US. Is this even allowed by the singaporian authorities? are there any downsides of doing this if is allowed?
2) I set up a legal entity in singapore and get paid as a contractor where I file my own accounting for my business. Are foreigners allowed to set up a legal entity ? is this difficult? is it costly? Any challenges that you see here?
3) My employer applies for my Employment Pass but they are not registered in singapore since they do not do business here so I don't think they will go this route but is there another pass I should be considering? what if they outsource a local company to do the payroll and accounting? suggestions here or comments?
Thank you so much!! look forward to your replies and I am excited to part of this community.
