Is my son a Taiwanese citizen or not?

Odd question perhaps, but I have reasons to believe my wife (who is Taiwanese) has applied for a Taiwanese citizenship for my son. I found out she had such plans earlier this year. And when she was in Taiwan recently she asked me to send over my passport photos.

I am concerned that my son will be forced to do military service in Taiwan. Also concerned that she doesn't seek my approval before doing it. If, indeed, she has. For the record, we have had marital problems and recently separated.

How can I find out whether my son is a Taiwanese citizen? I sent an email to the local Taiwanese representative office but they never got back to me. Will try to call again tomorrow.
