Expats parent homeschooling in Singapore

Post by StephaneTougard » Mon, 04 Nov 2019 6:34 pm

Hello,

We're moving to Singapore soon. We home school our child since ever.

Are there other family homeschooling ? any existing group we can join for activities ?

I think there are a number of them due to the high cost of International Schooling here. Somebody who has young children may have more information/contacts.

A good place to start would be right here on this board....

I'm not searching how to do it. We've been homeschooling our child since the beginning, we have no issue with that.

Regarding the law in Singapore, we're on expat forum, the law in Singapore does apply only to Singapore citizen. Your article should mention that :

3.—(1) A child of compulsory school age who is —
(a) born after 1st January 1996;
(b) a citizen of Singapore; and
(c) residing in Singapore,

Non-citizen child do not require any authorization or exemption to be home schooled. Your link is misleading on an "expat" forum.

I'm only searching expats homeschooling their child to organize common activities.

Deleted things must have changed.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

My bad. It's just I was called an "arse" by another moderator for not noticing another thread posted by Pal was a paid ad.

It would be really helpful if paid ads were clearly marked as such. I know I'll get the old "this forum has operated this way for years" but there are several good reasons why it's bad idea in the modern age.
