Has your bf ever worked in Singapore before on a Work Permit (WP)? (not EP or S pass) If he 'ever' worked here on WP then yes, must get approval from MOM. If he has and doesn't get permission, he will not be able to work here and it's a good possibility he won't even be able to get an LTVP either, but I cannot confirm that part.

There is a good possibility of him not being allowed to marry here or having to give up his Work Permit (lose his job). And then there is the possibility of not being able to get an LTVP. You may have to go to his country and marry there and immigrate to his country.

I think the question she is asking is, will he be banned if he applies and is rejected? I believe that the answer to that is no. He should be able to carry on as now. It's only if he ignores the advice and marries will he have have problems and the possible repercussions that SMS has outlined.

SMS has personal experience of this so heed his advice.

Good luck with your application.
