Singapore Lianhe Zaobao Newspaper on 21 Oct 2019 reported that The Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), which was incorporated in the name of this company last year, caused some confusion and concern because the English name and logo looked like the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI). It is a company, and not registered as an association. The Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SCCCI) has issued a statement on its official website indicating that the SCCI has nothing to do with it SCCCI.
In response to this matter, Xu Fangda, Minister of Trade and Industry and Senior Minister of Education of the Ministry of Education, said that the "Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) " is not a government-recognized chamber of commerce and has nothing to do with the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI).
In effect, it is not even a non-profit association, because it has not even being registered under ROS, Registrar of Society. The government will never support any unauthorised association to impersonate the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) affect its reputation and status.
It currently represent Singapore to sign MOU with 15 Trade Associations from 10 countries.
How can an association that is not even registered in Registry of Society and not even a real chamber of commerce represent singapore. While it has been accused of impersonation and infringement of trademark.
