Completing PR formalities - original documents missing

Post by PRWannabeSG » Fri, 11 Oct 2019 12:43 pm

Hi, PR application applied March 2019 and granted in principle approval in Oct 2019. Appointment booked end of October. My original employment letter and the Annex A to the Form 4A have been misplaced. I can't locate them after office move. all other original documents available. Looking for urgent comments if there are similar cases here. Should i ask the ICA if they can accept pdf copy or request my company to reissue the documents again, I don't think they will be willing to do it as it would mean backdating the letter. Many thanks

Why can't your company give a letter stating that you are employed since date ABC with your position and your salary. that along with the Annex A should be good enough. If you are too worried, email ICA or make a visit to ICA and explain them the scenario. Mostly, they should be ok with what I said.

Also in your approval letter are they asking you to bring the Original Employment letter and Annex A?

Also, how careless is it for you to miss both of them together?

Hello Team
Need Help on my below ask:
1. PR Approved on 8th.
2. For PR Application, i had submitted my birth certificate issued by local authority in India. It was digitally generated and digitally signed Birth Certificate. They no longer provide hard copy with wet Sign/Stamp on it. Clearly it was acceptable to ICA and that is why my PR was approved.
3. Now I have appointment with ICA for completing formalities.

Quick question, since I do not have the "Original" hard copy of the Birth Certificate, what should i be taking to ICA as part of my documents?

Really need your inputs to understand what i need to do before my ICA appointment.
thanks!

I responded to your DM but will repeat it here for others.
As you were given a digitally signed copy, I'm assuming you received it via email. What I would suggest is you take it to a notary (the email AND a printed out copy) to have the printed copy notarized as a true copy of the digital file. Alternately, you could probably forego the Notarized copy and take a printed copy and the email (in your email client) to verify the origin of the digital copy to proof the printed copy. (I'm assuming you have your email on your phone as well as on a PC somewhere here).

As you have already noted, it was acceptable already to ICA so the notary shouldn't be required as long as you can proof it with the digital copy attached to the email from the Indian Government.

Oh, and Congratulations.

As digital BCs increase, it will be interesting to see what countries (everywhere) ask for in relation to these documents. Seems like a pain if you need to get them apostilled (or whatnot). Not sure if there are any other security features in these documents?

If verification is required, an apostille or state authentication seems more likely to me than a notarization. I believe a notary would apply more to a locally generated document (i.e. verification within the same jurisdiction)?

Anyways, good luck and congrats.

I replied to your DM
1. ICA will mostly be OK. If it can be verified online by ICA even better. Had this case for my family member too and they were OK.
2. Else, HCI in SG will issue you a letter confirming ur DOB based on your passport and that is Ok too.
