In need of advice.
I'm a PR and my Singaporean wife is due in December. I want to bring my mother who lives back home in Spain, to Singapore and live with us for a few months to take care and get to know her grandson.
Does my mother have to be physically in Singapore for me to apply the LTVP? Can I start the application now while she is still in Spain as I read it takes about 6 weeks to process?
Appreciate your help in advance.

I remember that the application for LTVP requires a DE card number (disembarkation card). This card will be given when entering Singapore. Based on this info, I am assuming that you can apply for the LTVP for your mother when she is in Singapore. But let's see what others have to say.

Thanks bro75! I saw that too on ICA's page, but it also says it takes 6 weeks to process LTVP.
But since her tourist visa only entitles her to stay in SG for 30 days. Am wondering what will happen in the meantime while waiting for the LTVP? Do we have to keep going in and out of JB to extend her tourist visa while waiting for the LTVP?

You can ask for an extension at the ICA office or online.

agree with bro75. Don't try doing a visa run to Batam or Johore.

I got my mother’s LTVP renewed within 2 weeks of completing the application.
That was in August, completed formalities in September. Can be a quick process.

Just wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge about this (otherwise I'll call up ICA tomorrow & update here): Is it a
must for parents to enter the country on normal white card first before applying for LTVP for them? Or can we apply LTVP while they are still in home country?

My mother also got LTVP after entering country. Needed DE#.
Good way to filter out chancers. Pay to come in and take the risk, or stay home and get nothing.
