The chance to get PR for SPASS holder

Post by NP999 » Tue, 01 Oct 2019 6:07 pm

Hello everyone,
This is my 1st post and hope you guys won't shoot it down :D.
I am a Vietnamese male, 40y, SPASS holder and have been working in SG since the beginning of 2015. Started as EP holder, changed few companies as EP and now settle in this company but only SPASS with total income around 90K (inclusive the bonus, etc.)
I had tried applying PR 2 times and all got rejected (as the norm). LOL
Now I want to give it a try again with my family (my daughter is getting O-level in government Sec school soon). I absolutely know the chance to get PR is damn slim but post here with a hope that your opinions might be more objective and informative.
How do you think the possibility to have PR as my profile?

Please dont suggest to find a SG girl here though I want to. LOL

Thank you so much.

Singapore is pretty strict when it comes to applying PR. Hmm. Did they tell you any reason for the rejection?

ICA doesn't give reasons because the next application is usually tailor made to try to get around the reasons. I can tell you this, it is extremely hard for Vietnamese to get PR in Singapore.

Yes agreed with sundaymorningstaple. Able to get a S Pass is actually good enough. Even malaysian getting PR, they have to go through alot of steps etc. Not a 1-2 month things, or easy to get a PR in singapore.

Joeyy, if you are a Malaysian Chinese, getting PR is almost just a form filling exercise if they have a degree. They are usually a shoe-in.

Thank you so much @sundaymorningstaple and @joeyy.
I am gonna throw away 300$ for the known result :)). Quite hesitate now lol.
Seem With a Vietnamese, whatever pass won’t help at all.
What is the point to waste 300$ now 😩

Not saying any pass wont help

If you were on
- EP
- Earning higher
- Duration of stay in Singapore was more than 6 years
- In a job/skill that is in demand in Singapore

you still have a chance.

haha I am singaporean chinese. Ya, but I dont have family and friends from Malaysia. Getting PR in SG. That's why mentioning that, Malaysian to get a PR or Singapore Citizen in Singapore is actually the easiest countries among all, however even malaysian need to go through certain criteria.

No problem. But don't give up. You can continue trying. No harm giving it a try, just prepare for the worst result or prepare for a surprise result.

Goodluck! O:) :D O:)

Joeyyy,

you wasn't meant as 'you', personally, It's more an American figure of speech inferring Malaysians in this case. The topic wasn't about you but about immigration in general.

My Accounts exec was VN from Ha Noi, she worked for me for five years, 2 on an S pass and the last 3 on an LoC (I was one of the first employers to convert an Work Visa to an LoC (in order to save quota for S pass holders). She is married to a Sg PR holder who just happens to be one of the rare VN PRs here (He's a building engineer for one of the Sg Universities). she's tried 2x now but rejected both times. Doesn't make any sense to me either.

Interesting, why do you think so?
My profile is quite similar with this
I'm Vietnamese, under EP, salary more than 100k, been here fore more than 6 year, working in IT.

I applied 2 months ago with my spouse and kid but I don't think I stand a chance. I was rejected once.

@NP999
I plan to leave the SG as soon as I could find PR else where.
I think it's better to look out for opportunities rather than just wait here.
