Close your windows? When I lived in Seletar Camp, we always had bats flying into our house. Only way to keep 'em out was to close the shutters. Of course we didn't have glass windows so it still didn't stop the bugs like flying cockroaches. I usually just caught them and tossed 'em back out the window. No big issue. Myna birds, though, I agree. they are nasty buggers.
You can always buy a roll of the green mesh (or grey screens) an mount them over the windows, that will still allow the wind to blow through.

I was thinking of screening but it's a big area to screen. Would toy snakes keep them off the house?

Never thought about that. I guess it would be worth a try. But I've never seen birds shy away from snakes. In fact, I've seen birds attack snakes when the snakes venture too close to their nests. Just don't step on one of your snakes in the middle of the night and forget they are fakes.
I saw a shop down on Ubi Ave 2 about 2 weeks ago while looking for hardware and stuff @ Horme and passed a aluminium shop that was making up frames holding the screening I was talking about. These weren't small either. around 2m long by 1.5 m high I would guess. There is a block there on the right side coming in from Paya Lebar Road that has a whole row of aluminium manufacturers. It was in that block.

Hang a model of a hawk or eagle in your window. That will solve the problem.

That Japanese dollar shop sells them, forget their name. They're like kites, black and cut into a sleek hawk shape. They're supposed to deter feathered and furry interlopers by flapping around in the breeze.
Then again, Mynas are bloody smart, doubt they'll be deterred for long by these gizmos.
What helped for us is scaring the crap out of one once it was inside. Close windows and doors and put a bit of fear into it as it tries to find a way out frantically. It'll freak out, fly into the windows, balcony doors and altogether regret entering the house. Then open the windows and let it go. Word will get around.

@sundaymorningstaple: Thanks! Will take a look at Horme.
@Strong Eagle : Good idea, an eagle toy may be better than a snake...
@Max Headroom: Is the shop Japan Home that sells a home items? Interesting, as I may try to pop by to take a look. The birds are driving me crazy, they keep coming back...

Don't leave food around uncovered until you manage to fix the issue more permanently. A few times, mynas almost stole my lunch when i had to leave my table in an open air food court. They are not afraid of people and will steal food where the nearest person is about 1m or more away.
Re: Mynah birds flying into home
Get a pet cat. I've never had a problem with them since I got a cat (from this very forum - she's now dead but I have another one is who even better at watching for birds). Cats also keep gecko populations low (not extinct just lower) and some cats even hunt roaches and ants (my current ditch kitten seems to anyways). You don't need a fancy breed - see if you can pick up a ditch kitten from friends or neighbours if they see one.

@bro: Food are all covered but they'll come so long as doors or windows are opened. Even with presence of beings, they don't seem much afraid.

Seriously? That's nuts. Cats basically will ignore you most of the time unless they are hungry.

Three of the blasted things sat on my window sill literally teasing my cat this morning.
