Dear all
I have a big issue.
How do I bring both Mother and baby Son to Sg?
Father - Me (SC)
Mother - Taiwanese, ex-Work Permit Holder in Sg.
Baby born in Taiwan, DNA report available to prove paternity.
Found out that in order to marry mother, she has to ask permission from Ministry of Manpower.
In order to list my name down as father in birth cert, we have to register in Taiwan. In order to register, mother has to ask for permission.
I have been living overseas in various country and worked in Sg only for 3 months in 2019.
Is there an expert in this subject matter who is able to help me?
I’m ready to move back to Singapore And want to bring both mother and baby. Well, I am able to find new work in Sg, however it will be freelance work.
Note: never knew all these rules until I started asking and finding out and didn’t expect to find out so many restrictions.
If mother had never worked in Sg before, lesser issues. But mother had worked in Sg before under a WP. Reason for WP - 2 countries were paying her salary hence the company in Sg could not apply S-Pass.
Do let me know if further information is required.

Unwed SG Father, foreigner Mum & Baby
Re: Unwed SG Father, foreigner Mum & Baby
You need to return to Singapore and find a salaried job with a good income (~3K min). Then:
1. Ask MOM for permission to marry. It should be approved IMO if you have a job.
2. Marry and then apply for amended birth cert in Taiwan.
3. Then apply for LTVP for mother/child. It should be approved IMO.
Child has citizenship rights under father BUT has to be part of a couple that are married. You should have got married while your gf was still pregnant
I agree the rules on MOM pass holder's marrying is ridiculous.

Persons who are born outside of Singapore and have at least one parent who is a Singapore citizen may register with a Singapore consulate within a year to acquire Singapore citizenship by descent - (however you may find they insist on proof of marriage at the time of birth)

Re: Unwed SG Father, foreigner Mum & Baby
Thank you for your advice. Will try all methods just so that our little family can be together. It’s evil, so very evil to separate a family due to such rules. All I want now is to take care of my child n mummy.

GR, you were warned many times by LKY that he will only support "nuclear families". You cannot claim ignorance (note that I don't agree with LKY, PAP or LSL on this matter). The bigotry against unwed mothers, fatherless children and homosexuals is well entrenched in Singapore since colonial times.
