Average salaries in Singapore
Re: Average salaries in Singapore
Hi duluoz! Thanks a lot!
Still need to un know some website about taxes and maybe a tax calculator. Also, could you let me know which places are good/not good to live in ? (I think I should post this kind of questions in another place on this forum).

No areas are bad in Singapore. Some more expat heavy. You'll want to be close to an mrt station, too hot to walk far. Depends where your office is.

Re: Average salaries in Singapore
Mark. Totally depends on your situation and expected standard of living! Construction workers live on a thousand or so a month. Some expats struggle on 20 thousand a month. Most of us are somewhere in between!
Depends on if you have kids, are married, both working, if you're frugal or like the finer things in life.

Construction workers get paid 400$ or less, much less, after paying agents.duluoz1 wrote:Mark. Totally depends on your situation and expected standard of living! Construction workers live on a thousand or so a month. Some expats struggle on 20 thousand a month. Most of us are somewhere in between!

Maids get 450 $ or less.
Re: Average salaries in Singapore
Most maids get around $600-$700, certainly not less than $450. That's below the minimum that some countries set (phillipines for example).
Obviously some of the expat families pay at the higher end.

Re: Average salaries in Singapore
Neither figure is accurate in my experience. $450 is the absolute floor, most earn more, $600 and up, plus meals, plus housing, plus medical, plus a guaranteed day off, plus a trip home.ecureilx wrote:Construction workers get paid 400$ or less, much less, after paying agents.

Construction workers will earn a base of about $1000, and most double that with overtime to about $2000. Higher skilled workers (welders, equipment operators, etc) all earn more than that. Accommodation must be provided.

We know that you were the best boss... So your benefit package is the exception, maybe like 10 to 15% employers.Strong Eagle wrote:Neither figure is accurate in my experience. $450 is the absolute floor, most earn more, $600 and up, plus meals, plus housing, plus medical, plus a guaranteed day off, plus a trip home.ecureilx wrote:Construction workers get paid 400$ or less, much less, after paying agents.

But about maids, most earn what I said. And I know it as even now Thats the number mentioned after loans.
About construction, which company pays 1000 base?
Unless the person is skilled, after all deduction they still end up owing the agent after 2 years.. Though the situation has improved slightly..
By your scale, FnB staff must earn 3000 gross but reality is, very few employer pays anything more than 2500 gross. And no ad says anything above 1500 starting .. Up-to 3000, starting 1500 is the norm in the ads but very few get near 3k. Reach 3k, get replaced by a new recruit. That's Singapore even today.
Apparently cost of living in Singapore has gone down of late
Re: Average salaries in Singapore
You realise the legal minimum for both Indonesian and Filipina maids is $550, right? Where are all these maids from that you think are paid less than that?
$600 is more typical.

Re: Average salaries in Singapore
