Thanks to a slew of fraudulent documents/degrees over the past 5~8 years, MOM has been fully vetting applications instead of just cursory checks and the allowing people to go to work. Now, after many have been found to have been employed with fake documents, they have burned the bridges for their countrymen. A couple of years ago I had two of my staff picked up at the office for that reason. They were repatriated back to their country (a S.E.Asian country) and banned from returning. There have even been university professors who were found to have fake credentials. So now, it's a waiting game that is dependent on field teams who are located in various countries (some are government workers and other teams are independent teams hired by the MOM in those countries). The problem is that quite a number of Universities in these countries are not fully computerised - school records - and have to be researched manually by university staff and the MOM will not use 'grease', as the saying goes, so sometimes it takes a fair bit of time to get the information. If you happen to be from one of those behind the times universities/countries, you have your countrymen to thank.
