I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my teen out to somewhere with little to no traffic, like Changi Coast Road and let them go for a spin. It’s a great experience.

The police presence in SG is sparse at best. How often do you see anyone getting pulled over here? The risk is almost zero. In fact I know someone personally who drove for 5 years here without a license and never got caught.
5 years??? Thats bold. My concern is not so much about her getting pulled over, but rather about her safety and the safety of other motorists. We live in Bukit Timah, so most of the roads are pretty packed most hours of the day, and Changi is quite a distance. We did consider the Basement carpark at night, when its empty and everyone is home.

My daughter just turned 18 and she’s thinking about getting her license now, not sure if public or private would be the more desirable route. Cost isn’t really the concern, more worried about time taken and quality of tutelage.
I would just wait until she gets to the US to get her licensed. For anyone 18 and up it is super easy to get licensed there, and if she comes back here she can transfer it over. Not to mention, you’ll save a lot of money!
I considered that at first, but she is eager to get out there and be an adult (so she thinks) and moreover I do think it would be good for her to gain some practice here in the 8 months of free time she has now before going to college.

Must the instructor be a part of one of the three schools? Or are there any independent instructors?
for private, no need from school.
But when she is driving on road or circuit, won’t she have to rent a car from one of the 3 centres? And won’t the circuit need to belong to one of the 3?
the private instructor have a car.
when learning, you cannot use the normal car that on the road.
Those car, they have another brake for instructor

There is a quiet place which I have found perfect for driving lessons in your car. No traffic but with intersections and varying road surfaces to practice on. I'll only disclose on PM To people I know and please don’t spread it.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Really? That may explain why the “learner” cars all look the same, the same small “beetle-esque” shape.

In the tabulated list of costs, the private candidate costs do not account for simulator training. Does this mean private candidates do not need to undergo the simulator training? I remember reading that it is compulsory for all learners…

That is exactly why I will have my kids get licensed in the US… less than $100 for everything and much easier/faster to do it.

Everything’s cheaper in the US- our concern is more about time (if she has 8 months to spare, might as well spend it accumulating driving experience).
