Hi everyone
Basically I am considering a move to Singapore from the UK and was wondering about career opportunities.
I am 51 yo with 30 years experience in general practice accounting. I am a fellow of ICAEW and ACCA and have owned and run my own practice for the last 12 years.
I am single with no dependents but if I did move I would have to sell mu business which could take up to 12 months.
Is there any general advice you can help me with?
Are there jobs for someone of my age and experience – both in practice and industry?
Are my qualifications transferable?

Re: Career change
This is a field dominated by locals. Have you researched what is needed to be a CPA in Singapore?

I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Re: Career change
Coming from an old guy:
- You're too old, both to be considered to be hired and for the government to be interested in granting you an EP.
- You're not going to get hired by a Singapore firm, local or MNC. People who get in on EP are transferred in by their companies and it's a rare bird that actually flies in and gains employment.
- Accountancy is one of the high emphasis fields in Singapore's push to create high value jobs. Lots of locals with accountancy backgrounds and the government won't be interested in aiding you going to the head of the line to get a local's job.
