renewing passport but expired REP

Post by alliswell » Thu, 22 Aug 2019 7:01 pm

Hi,

I'm a PR staying in Singapore. I'm renewing my passport but the REP has expired (and I've not left the country since then).
So do I still need to transfer the expiredREP from the old passport to the new or is it not required?
How do I update ICA about the new passport details then? :???:

Easiest way is a trip to ICA. But that depends on a couple of things, if you are over 55 and on a Family Ties PR, no issues. If you are on a PTS PR if you are working, also no issues, however, if you are unemployed it might be if you are a PTS PR. We've never been able to discern one way or the other. I went 15 months without a re-entry permit quite some time ago but was on a FT PR and was over the age of 55. I waited until I had employment before going down to ICA to renew. After getting there I was told as I'm over 55 and on FT PR employment wasn't an issue. I forgot to ask about for PTS PRs so cannot say for sure. But you should make a trip to Kallang to ICA to be on the safe side.

I'm not applying REP anytime soon.

What I mean is do I still need to transfer the invalid/expired REP to new passport online? I couldn't understand the website.

Why are you not renewing REP? Any reason?

I would not expect you need to - makes no sense to transfer something invalid/expired. But you may want to check with ICA if their records would need to be updated - this makes sense as at one point you may want to leave the country and what they check at the border is still the passport (not REP and not the blue card).

On the other hand you may still leave the country showing them both of your passports.
