Working Holiday Pass

Post by Lisie » Fri, 16 Aug 2019 7:51 am

Hi everyone,

I currently have a working holiday pass that allows me to work in Singapore for 6 months. I’m a month in and unsuccessful on the job hunt.

Does anyone who has this pass have any advice or know where to look?

I have over 8 years customer service experience with 6 of that being in sales.

Thanks in advance!

So... call me confused. In April of 2017, you were a 28 year old female... at least that's what multiple posts you made in 2017 say. That would make you 30 now.

According to MoM, work holiday passes are issued, "aged 18 to 25 at the time of application."

Over and above all the other conditions, such as being, "resident and a full-time student", I must admit to a deep curiosity as to how you have managed to come by a work holiday pass.

Correct. In 2017 I was 28 which would make me 30 - simple maths of course! There is no reason to lie about age here.

If you research on the MoM website you will find there are two Work Holiday Passes. One is under work holiday programme, which you are correct is from 18 - 25 and the other is under work and holiday visa programme.

The latter is for those aged between the ages of 18 and 30 (including 30). To be eligible for this you need to be an Australian citizen and hold a university degree.

Hope this clears up your confusion and hopefully someone on here can provide useful advice in regards to job opportunities.

You're here at a bad time. A technical recession and definite slowdown in retail is happening along with a strong nationalistic bent which has made employers leering of hiring non Singaporeans or PRs.

You need to network and network hard. It might be worth checking out the various embassys - the Aussie one routinely hires Australians' as customer service agents.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Yeah.... I’m starting to realise that it’s terrible timing.

I’ll have a look at the embassy’s! Thank you!
