I had a valid IPA but my entry was denied into Singapore. In the immigration counters, They questioned me ' what is your name?' I replied ' Tarun Kumar' . They checked again and questioned ' Are you Tarun Kumar cadona?' I didn't catch the name properly. They asked me whether I have studied or visited Singapore already. I replied ' No'. Then, I was asked to sit in a room. Close to 50 mins later , officer started interviewing me . She asked ' who gave you the IPA Letter?, How much SG currency you have, How much Indian currency you have, what is education?, What is the salary and what role you are going to do in SG? For all these questions, I have answered. I have never heard from my friends that this interview happened for them. Then, they took me into the 2nd screening room for my biometrics. Again I was put in the same room. I waited for 45 mins this time. An officer came to the room and showed a passport copy of another person having my same name 'Tarun Kumar' and asked do you know this person? I replied No. Then the officer said ' you are denied entry into SG, you should catch the next flight and leave'. I asked the reason. They said they are not suppose to provide it. They said there is something wrong with IPA and your company needs to get it corrected. They refused to provide details on what is wrong in IPA.
My IPA is approved by ministry and I travelled within the timelines to SG. I don't know what is the real reason to get deported. They mentioned me to file an appeal and re-enter SG. A strong case is already given to the ministry by my company. Will I get a positive response or should i move on?

It could be a case of mistaken ID and the biometric will prove that in which case you will be able to get in the second time. Your company should really do a better job of prepping you for this type of event.

Ok, but they always said there is something wrong with the IPA letter. Does immigration have any role to check the IPA letter contents what ministry issues? Although, they said it's confidential and they will not reveal. Am confused whether it is mistaken identity or IPA correction is necessary..

THIS!!
That was my first thought... that the fellow has been scammed and given a phony IPA letter by an agency that took his money to find him a job.
tarun.kumar, if you did get this job through an "agency" you need to report them, both back home and in Singapore.

No People. The company issued the IPA. I can still see my name in the ministry site if i usie the FIN. It's a valid IPA. Am not sure whether the mentioned salary is a problem. This is the only one I can think out of the box. Even if salary is a constraint, it should have been corrected during the application processing stage by ministry.
I had all valid documents. Something in the immigration had triggered them to deny entry. Am not sure what is that. I even asked whether the identity is anything to do with denied entry. They said No. They said it is the IPA. You need to get the IPA corrected from your company. When I asked what is the mistake in IPA, they replied ' company will know, it's confidential' they said ' you need to bring your appeal letter and IPA when you are re-entering again'

I'm afraid this is something your company will need to appeal and find out the cause. They will need to do the heavy lifting. Assuming if you didn't do anything dodgy in the past that is. Sounds like a mistaken identity

A point that should be noted. The company cannot issue the IPA. The IPA is issued by MoM.
Have you checked the validity of your IPA with MoM?
Good luck.

I meant, "did you verify that the IPA is a valid one with MoM, either by phone call or by using their website?" I did not mean, "has it expired"?
See, apparently the Immigration and Checkpoints authority thinks that your IPA is invalid. The only reason they would think this is that they ran it up against the MoM database and it came up with problems. So, the starting place for you is with MoM to verify that the IPA you hold is in agreement with their records.

Yes, from the website, I verified it using the FIN number. I can see my details. However, I did not call and check.
Company said I would get the results in 4-6 weeks for the appeal. They have said it is a very unfortunate event in their history.

Exactly which website did you use to verify it? Type it in your response.
You should be using a
www.mom.gov.sg type website.
