Is the processing time for an employment pass for a P1 generally faster than other types of employment pass, and is the approval easier? I am assuming that with a monthly salary of SGD$9600, I would be classified as a P1 employment pass applicant. And has anyone ever been rejected for a P1 pass before? and for what reasons? Is there any reason for concern? Abit paranoid after reading all the threads on employment passes, processing time, rejection, etc.

This is a very hard question to answer because MoM closely guards whatever evaluatin criteria it uses. This kind of makes sense... if everyone knew what the criteria were exactly, they'd simply write up their applications to meet the criteria. As it is, employer justifications and employee credentials are very much an individual thing.
I will say this, however. If a company has previously hired EP's it probably has a pretty good idea of what it takes, and may have a good working relationship with people at MoM. Second, MoM is filled with government bureaucrats. You may rest assured that every application received must pass all the checklists before it can even be considered for approval... there is simply no incentive to do otherwise. Finally, MoM is populated with some of the best and brightest in Singapore. They are quite professional, and in my opinion, quite reasonable. In the end, the net value judgment is whether or not you will be of value to the Singapore economy.

With a P1 salary like that and presumably a biggish company to pay it (?), I would expect you to have no issues. Strong Eagle is right in what he says about nitpicky bureaucrats, but IMHO the salary is the single biggest determinant of success and the "rejected seven times" horror stories tend to come from people who have marginal salaries in the Q1-Q2 range.
