Chance to get PR for CTO for an EduTech startup

Post by vnapr88 » Sun, 21 Jul 2019 1:45 am

Hi guys, I need some suggestions for my chance to get PR with below information:

- Male, 31 years old, Vietnamese
- Work in Singapore from Oct 2018 under SPass then EP from May 2019
- Currently hold CTO position,6.5k, few percent of company shares, edutech startup.
- Wife and 2 sons: 2,4 years old, in Vietnam

I want to get PR before bringing them over.

Thank you very much.

Your chances are about zero. You have only worked in Singapore for less than 1 year total and part of that was under S Pass. You haven't been here long enough. And, you work for a startup. It could disappear tomorrow.

Second, wife and sons are in Vietnam. If you were going to apply, it should be as a family and so that sons would do national service. With your family in Vietnam, the evidence says that you have nothing to call roots in Singapore, and would leave tomorrow morning if your family required it.

Third, you are the wrong ethnicity. Only a small percentage of total PR's are granted to Vietnamese.

At the very least, you need more time working in Singapore and you need your family in Singapore, not Vietnam.

Are you Chinese ethnicity VN or Viet? If the former your chances will improve if you can cross a few other hurdles.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

I am not Chinese ethnicity, I know quite many Vietnamese IT guys applied for PR and all rejected, even they work for MNC and banks.

Just wonder if there is a chance if a person holds a higher position and given company's shares (5%).

You need to be able to fit into Singapore's game plan.

Unfortunately that has near-zero influence. The other posters are right - ethnicity & nationality are the dominant criteria.

Even for the favoured ethnicity/nationality, salary wouldn't have a big impact either.

They're not targeting a "high" salary per se, as they'd be looking to recruit a broad cross section of society, not an elite group of high achievers.

At least they'd be looking for the salary to be generally commensurate with sector, age and education, likely removing those individuals who figure below average, unless those individuals score high in order categories. (edu, age etc)
