Latest policy on duration of a renewed S pass?

Post by kelvin167 » Wed, 17 Jul 2019 4:46 pm

My current S pass has duration of 5 years. My employer has renewed it.

According to the MOM website at https://www.mom.gov.sg/passes-and-permi ... new-a-pass, S pass can be renewed up to 3 years.

However, yesterday I received an IPA letter from MOM. The renewed S pass has duration of 3 years and 2 months. My passport is going to expire in 3 years and 3 months.

I guess it is because the duration if the renewed S pass will only be up to 1 month before the expiry date of the passport. I think actually S pass can be renewed up to 5 years like my current pass and the information on MOM website is incorrect.

Should I try to renew my passport and notify MOM of the change in order to extend the duration of the renewed S pass to 5 years?

You can if you want to chance it. But if I were you, I'd just be thankful it was renewed for 3+ and let sleeping dogs lie, if you get my drift.
