I'm about to give up with my OCBC credit card application. They are asking for a "letter of consent" from the MOM (I don't have one) and a notice of assessment (also don't have since I've been here less than a year).
I'm an independent contractor for an offshore company. I'm on a DP via my spouse who has EP. I've already given them proof of income. They said they might be able to waive the notice of assessment requirement but I need to get this magic Letter from the MOM.
IIUC this Letter of Consent is kind of a permission to work for a specific employer in Singapore? In which case I'll never get one.
Am I SOL here? Are all credit cards going to ask for this stuff?

I know this sucks, but what with FATCA and other bullshit due to financial shenanigans worldwide, you may ends up stuck with a supplementary card on your spouses CC seeing you are still here as a Dependent and not on an Employment Pass of your own.

Ok thanks. Plan B I will try to get a card from HSBC, where I have a local account. Their cards are not too exciting, but beggars can't be choosers.

Try American Express. Charge cards tend to be a little easier to get.
My wife (on an EP) cannot get a CC here as an US citizen so I've had to give her a supplementary card. I know others who have had friends (trusted) get them supplementary cards.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
