CPF Withdrawal for Malaysian (Need Advice!)

Post by KennethTan86 » Thu, 11 Jul 2019 10:29 pm

Hi there, need some advice on CPF withdrawal.

I am a Singapore PR from Malaysia who has been working here for 10+ years. However, I have decided to move to China with my Chinese girlfriend and pursue a career there.

However, from my research, China PR or citizenship isn't easy to obtain and the best I can probably get in the short term is a work permit.

Here are some of my questions:

1) What kind of permanent address does ICA required for me to be able to apply for the CPF withdrawal if I already migrated to another country that isn't my home country, does a work permit with rental house address enough to be considered?

2) I'm still a Malaysian and my M'sia IC is indicating my west M'sia address, however, I do not own the property as it is my parent house. Will that causes an issue to ICA thinking I still want to move back to M'sia? I still plan to visit my parents when needed though.

3) If I were to receive my CPF transferred to my SG bank account, can I still transfer some money to my parent account in West M'sia to help with their living costs, etc.? Does that violate any CPF withdrawal rules?

Appreciate if anyone could advice me on this. Thank you in advance!

1) Work permit no good. You have to have at least permanent residence. That may not be enough either, but I cannot say for sure. A call to the CPF board who give you a quick answer though.
2) Unless you have permanent residence elsewhere I'm afraid you are stuck.
3) If you are allowed to transfer your CPF to your personal bank account, you can then do whatever you want with the money. CPF no longer has any control over it.

I sort of having the same situation, however, I am originated from west Malaysia but following my boyfriend from Sabah back to east Malaysia.

Once I settled in Sabah (East Malaysia), would I be able to withdraw my CPF fully in that case? What kind of documentation would ICA require in that case? Simply my Malaysia IC with east Msia address? Or do I really need to own a property in east Msia?

This whole East Malaysia can withdraw but West Malaysia can't is so confusing.

The answer varies with age as well but this is good advice:

I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Thank you for your reply.

However what constitutes as 'staying' or 'settle in' in West Malaysia?

I am originated from West Malaysia but don't plan to stay permanently or buy a property in West Malaysia, just that my IC and address probably still state that I am from West Malaysia.

Do I have to give up my Malaysia citizenship totally? But I still want to reside in Sabah (East Malaysia).

The 20% really took a large chunk out of my salary in the past years and I need the CPF to help me set up a family and future life at Sabah.

As far as I know, if you are from West Malaysia, you can't withdraw your CPF until you reach the retirement age. Only people from East Malaysia can withdraw full CPF at any given time.

I imagine your MYKAD address would be sufficient to prove you reside in East Malaysia.
