If your REP expired but it wasn't intentional and it's the first time you have made that kind of stuff-up, normally you can pay a $100 fine and get it renewed. Otherwise you will have lost your PR, and while you should be able to enter on a bog-standard SVP you may not get the full duration normally allowed for your home country. That's entirely up to the ICA officer at the airport.
Technically, you are no longer a SPR unless you can pay the fine and get the REP renewed. Normally this is what they do. However, should you leave without a valid REP, you will for sure lose your PR as your leaving without a valid REP is telling ICA, by your action, that you want to give up your PR.
