Relocating to Singapore

Post by waky » Fri, 28 Jun 2019 2:40 pm

Hello all, I would like to relocate to Singapore. Currently I work as an SME for a US based company. My work is with different client from around the world. I just would like to know if and how would be possible to relocate to Singapore to stay 1 year there with my family. I do can also pay taxes there, I do not mind.

Is there any visa process for SME ? Should I open some kind of business? If I open a business it will be just me.

Can I also bring my family over (wife and daughter )? Would they get also visa to stay in Singapore legally ?

Hope you guys can help me out. Thank you in advance!

What is an SME? Unless you have a job offer from a Singapore based company or an MNC with a Singapore subsidiary, it's not going to happen. Open a business? Do a search of Strong Eagles' posts here in the Business forums to see how much money is involved and the likelihood of success or maybe I should say the likelihood of failure as that would be closer to the point unless you have very deep pockets. Too many have tried to con the Singapore government and they are wise to that stuff. I'm not sure why you would even want to stay in Singapore, truth be told. Are you an ABC by chance?

Thank you for your response. I'm do not want to con the government of Singapore. I just want to move there, pay the rent, pay my taxes in Singapore and that's it. SME means Subject matter experts; so basically I'm a freelancer working online...I assume this would not be possible from Singapore then .... I'm not ABC.

Not going to happen in Singapore. Start a business, submit a plan, convince the authorities that you're not trying to scam your way into Singapore with a "business" as so many have tried to do, and then, yes, you could be a subject matter expert online... but as a registered business person, paying taxes.
