Employer not willing to produce employment verification letter

Post by sonafish » Wed, 12 Jun 2019 7:49 pm

Hi all,

I just received IPA for my PR Application recently. The next step is to submit employment verification letter and payslips to ICA.

I work for a SME in Singapore and due to high employee turnover, my boss refuses to sign on the employment verification letter unless I'm willing to enter an one year contract with the company.

any advice? Is there any other ways to prove that I'm under employment of the company and what are my options?

Thanks

You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

No wonder your employer hates you. You're a bloody selfish parasite.

sonafish, you are the exact reason why employers won't sign employment verification letters. They know useless 3rd world employees will jump ship after they spent time and money training you, just to have you screw them as soon as you get your PR. It's people like you who want to make me puke. I just retired but was the HR & Finance of a medium sized SME for the last 15 years. I've seen enough of your kind here.

Well, don't jump to conclusions so soon. I've been working for the engineering company for almost 2 years just straight out of university.

The company used to be 20+ people at peak. 15 people resigned in one year and now only left me and 2 colleagues, another is leaving next month. Most people stay for less than a year, do you think is normal? The corporate culture here is to toxic and firefighting to put out fire of the angry customers is the common scene, basically there is no career path and no training here.

Anyway, thanks for your kind advice.

If it was so toxic why did you stay so long?

The reason I stayed was because of my manager, he was the co-founder and hiring manager that hired me 2 years ago. He left last year Nov because of some differences with my current boss, since then everything is handled by my current boss directly. Due to lack of leadership almost all things went haywire.

My current boss(he used to be just doing sales) has little engineering background and trying to manage an engineering company. He's running the business like a dictator, create toxic & stressful workplace environment. Furthermore, he keeps breaking promises to the customers, recently we just found out that he promised a customer a feature that is impossible to build and the customer now is pissed.

While I still do not agree with you, you do not need an employment letter from the employer if you can present the last 6 month's salary vouchers (Payslips). As noted, lots of employers don't like to give that stuff because it IS common knowledge that the vast majority do leave within 6 months of gaining PR. Mom knows this so if you cannot get a signed Annex A don't worry about it as long as you can submit the pay vouchers to support the income you are claiming on the application.

^^^^^^
And if you don't have salary vouchers, then check stubs and/or direct deposit bank records.

Hi, I also encountered the same issue, may I ask how did you solve it in the end. Does the company real allowed to refuse giving the verification??
