Hello everyone,
I have a very tricky situation to expose.
My HR is completely useless in this regard, unfortunately.
My company has proposed me a transfer from Singapore to China.
I have accepted the offer today, and it is going to take about 6 to 8 weeks to complete the paperwork for the transfer.
This was an ideal situation for me, for a couple of reasons:
- My current rent lease terminates on the 15th of July;
- I will be in USA for a business trip from the 16th of July to the 29th of July.
For that reason, what we have decided to do in accordance with my company is to:
- Fly for my Business Trip from Singapore to LA;
- Fly back from LA directly into China, and not come back to Singapore.
- My company will pay for my accommodation in there and give me Off in Lieu until the visa kicks in if won't kick in during my trip.
However I am not in the position to give a notice period since the 6-8 weeks period is tentative, and it might take longer (or shorter) to China to give me the documentation needed.
Irregardless to that, I will be leaving Singapore on the 15th and not coming back, if not on time to time on business trip.
I was wondering if something like this is possible:
- Agree with the company on a 1 day notice period once the Chinese Working Visa has been granted, I will prepare a paper with the Legal of my company to state that we will shorten the working visa to have me working immediately overseas as soon as my new visa will be ready;
- Have my company cancelling my EP when I am abroad;
- Have a colleague of mine handing over the EP on my behalf/to the agency we will be using to follow this procedure;
- Pay my outstanding tax after IR21 will be filed from my Singapore bank account.
I will be back in Singapore about 6 times per year, so it is important for me to be able to clear everything with extreme accuracy and precision.
If the above is possible, I am happy.
I have no outstanding debts with SP Services and Starhub, so I guess once the above is sorted, I will be having more peace of mind.
