Singapore is dereft of light/mid strength beer
Singapore is dereft of light/mid strength beer
A lot of us are getting more aware of the health effects of alcohol. When travelling in Australia I tend to drink mid or low (>3% - sometimes as low as 1.8%) beer as a preferred choice. It is SO HARD to find in Singapore. This is a perfect business opportunity for someone to set up a mid strength beer retailer or pub.

I noticed in Bkk "tiger light" - 4.1% (that's not light btw - that's damn near full strength). I've never seen it in Singapore!

Similarly San Miguel Light is 5%, not sure if it's an Asia thing but light here seems to mean low calories not low alcohol and possibly refers to a "light" taste. Interestingly there is this article recently about Heineken starting to push their 0% beer in Asia: https://cnalifestyle.channelnewsasia.co ... r-11311954 so maybe we'll start seeing it around more. Can't say I've noticed it yet.

Last Friday night I was at Octapas and was drinking San Mig Light and unlike normal San Miguel, I really didn't even get a light buzz on after 4 of them. It does have a lite taste and the calories are much lower as well. I was thinking it was low alcohol content as well. Surprised me that it wasn't.

It's an odd beer. Considering alcohol is the main source of calories or so I thought it seems strange it is "low cal".sundaymorningstaple wrote:Last Friday night I was at Octapas and was drinking San Mig Light and unlike normal San Miguel, I really didn't even get a light buzz on after 4 of them.
