Part-Time Job

Postby Jean » Tue, 08 Mar 2005 5:36 pm

I am waiting for my PR result. If I want to get a part-time job, do I still need a PR or working visa?

Where can I look for part-time job?

Be aware, Jean, that you can't legally have any job, part time or otherwise, unless you have work authorization, aka EP or PR. This is not to say that people don't find work all the time, it just means that you better get paid in cash because you won't have a bank account, no checks, no ATM, no nothing. It's illegal, but maids get part time cash jobs, social pass visitors drop over to Malaysia to get their SVP's renewed and keep working in the cash economy. The probability of getting caught is reasonably low, but well above zero.

As for the "job offer" that was left for you: Fifty bucks says it is one more MLM scam, and he certainly cannot offer you legal employment. Seems like every third person around here these days has been suckered into an MLM scheme. Shouldn't take more that two weeks for every last person in Singapore to be a "distributor".

Cheers.
