Zoukout draws 15, 000-strong crowd on Saturday night
SINGAPORE -- The ZoukOut, an annual dusk-to-dawn outdoor dance music festival held at Marina Bayfront this year, drew a crowd of 3,800 last Friday and 15,000 on Saturday.
This year's ZoukOut, at Marina Bayfront, drew a crowd of 3,800 last Friday and 15,000 on Saturday. The inaugural ZoukOut at Sentosa's Siloso Beach in December 2000 had attracted 12,000 people. The following November, when it was held at the resort island's Tanjong Beach, 13,000 showed up.
The cost for staging it has also risen, from S$800,000 in 2000, S$900,000 in 2001 to S$1.5 million last weekend.
The rise may not have been matched by as big an increase in the turnout, but given the short time the event was put together, Zouk club says it is pleased with the results.
Marketing manager Tracy Phillips pointed out how the original date for the event was the last weekend of May, but had to be postponed when Sars broke out.
By the time the killer flu died down, the club had only six weeks to sew up the event, including confirming the line-up of top international acts and DJs.
This year's event was divided into a live concert on Friday and a dance party from four arenas on Saturday.
