Banks, emigration and CRS (Common Reporting Standard)

Post by Cohen123 » Sun, 17 Mar 2019 4:36 pm

Hello, (and happy st Patrick’s day if you celebrate the occasion ) ,

Has any emigrants been affected by the CRS reporting to banks recently?

Some countries now expect its tax residents to pay tax on their overseas income ( such as bank interests). Has anyone here been affected in that way ?

Thanks for any shared info.

Your answer depends on which country you're referring to.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

I think some countries like Canada, NZ and Australia already uaing CRS a means to recoup overseas income from tax residents, similar to the US FATCA.

Most new emigrants will have bank accounts in their home countries. These accounts will likely generate interest. What’s more if you sell your property and deposit the amount in the bank, this amount will be reported under CRS. In fact, any income deposit into the bank will likely come under scrutiny under the new exchange of information between governments.

This is happening more frequently in the last year or so. Has any emigrant been affected by this recently ?

Any info appreciated. Or email me at [email protected] if you do not want to publish and publicise your circumstances. Thabk you for your sharing.

My reply was for PNGMK, inside joke/complaint.
