hello all,
I've been trying to find information on this topic?
My fiance is a SC, and she is currently pregnant with our first child.
I am a US citizen with a full time job in the US. We were planning to apply for K1 Visa so we can raise our child together in the US, however we want our child to be born in Singapore with the help and support of her family.
I want to be there for her as much as I can during the pregnancy, and we're wondering if it's easier to get married in Singapore? So i could be with her, I understand that its better for us to apply for PMLA before marriage..but she doesn't have a full time job at the moment.
Any advice?
What are our chances of getting approval for LTVP?

1. Give birth in USA so child has US citizenship. The mother can pass SC to child if you're married under Sing constitution (and possibly without marriage).
2. You can get married in Singapore but whether it brings any rights of residency is a separate q and then you have the issue of the child obtaining US citizenship.

If the child is a male child, be careful, very careful as it's a minefield with regards to his NS obligation as if they see the birth as a method of 'using' Singapore, you will likely have problems getting exit permits for the child after a certain point. Be very careful. Read through the various NS threads in the Strictly Speaking sub-forum under the General Forum.

PNGMK is right. Give birth in the USA. All else follows and can be dealt with. You'll only have the chance at US citizenship once.
