Hi,
In a couple months I will be moving to Singapore, and was wondering what the mental health care and stigma is like. I have had depression in the past and am expecting to have a regular meeting with psychiatrist to prescribe medication and weekly meeting with therapist in Singapore to prevent another episode. In general I heard mental health in Asia is stigmatized and someone told me a story about how her son's ADD medication was seized at the Hong Kong airport! Is Singapore like that too? (Would my medication get seized at the airport?) Could I get the regular meetings with medical staff?
Thank you kindly for your comments. I also posted this in the Health forum.

1. Don't tell anyone.
2. Don't tell your employer.
3. Don't tell anyone.
4. Don't tell your insurance company.
5. Don't tell anyone.
6. Arrange for medication from your home country.
7. Don't tell anyone.
Clear enough? Yes there's a stigma. Yes it can cause issues with employment, insurance, MOM, etc etc.

You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Re: Mental Health Services
Yes but it is rapidly changing. There are new companies popping up everywhere like The Therapy Corner and more. So let's see how long it will take to fully change.

Not for a while, I’m afraid. At least not until the older generations die out and the Millenials/Gen Z who are big on normalizing mental health awareness and providing resources come into positions of greater influence and power.

Lisa, they've already normalized abnormal mental health. That's why there are now 6,279 different genders.
