Mulling over PR application

Post by NajaNaja » Mon, 21 Jan 2019 3:28 am

Hello friends! Great forum this with lots of interesting & useful stuff. This is my first post here :D 8-[ :-k

My PEP ends this June so started thinking of going down the PR route. My MNC employer is quite happy to support an EP so there is no compelling urgency to go for a PR but I quite like Singapore.

My specs are as follows:
Indian citizen (Tamil) / Male / 37 years / single / in SG from Jun 2014; PEP from Jun 2016 / Software Architect / Basic Salary 23K/mo (S$300K p.a.approx) + bonuses, etc.

I am told my salary is OK-ish for a PR application but most of the folks applying seem to be younger and I keep hearing rumours of nationality based limits. I met with a couple of consultants to get a view - at least anecdotal - on how these kinds of factors influence applications but they seemed to lack the ability and the inclination to have a nuanced discussion.

So here I am, asking for advice on whether it is worth pursuing an application. I understand there is no certainty of outcome but it makes little sense to even apply if the run of play is firmly against my profile.

Thanks!

It only costs SGD 100 for an application. Go for it. Nationality is not the preferred type but otherwise you have a good economic profile.

apply but don't use a consultant - do it yourself.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!
