Salary increase, EP likely to be rejected?

Post by yellowdayze » Sun, 25 Nov 2018 12:28 am

Hello, my first-time post so hopefully I'm getting it right.

I have been living and working in Singapore for the past 2 years under an EP. I am currently employed by a tech company as their VP of sales. I have just signed a contract with another employer as their head of sales. To entice me to move company I am being offered a package that is higher than my current salary, naturally. My issue is I have seen/heard that too big an increase in salary can be a reason for a rejected EP. My BASIC salary is increasing from 7-11k /month

Does anyone know this to be true and if so, any way of legally mitigating my chances of rejection?

If this is true, I have several problems with it:
- Salaries often increase with time
- Offered salaries are often higher to entice staff over to new companies
- Higher salaries are good news for SG
- Sales packages are almost always a split of basic, comms and equity (for start ups) but this doesnt seem to be taken into account.

Could anyone shed any light on this please?
