CD player repair

Post by SimonAttwood » Tue, 02 Oct 2018 11:20 am

Hi all,

Recently moved to Singapore and in the relocation there was some damage to a few items. One of these is CD player - can anyone suggest a good hifi repair place please? We're located near Bueno Vista MRT/Star Vista area. Many thanks, Simon

I'd recommend some place in Sim Lim Tower... if you're new to Singapore, I'm sure it will be an experience.

Sim Lim Tower on Jalan Besar, not to be confused with Sim Lim Square, caddy corner across the way at Bencoolen, is chock full of a variety of electronics parts and repair shops. Lower floors have bunches of auto sound stores and a handful of electronic parts stores. Upper floors have specialty electronics, more parts stores, and repair places, including (I don't know if it is still there) a place that repairs old tube amplifiers and receivers. You really have to take your broken player with you and hunt around until you find someone that thinks they can fix it. That's part of why it is an experience.

There are repair shops in the upper levels of Sim Lim Square, towards the back but they seem more focused on computers and phones... SLS is mostly a bangin' retail mall.

You can see how useful the list of company names in SLT is in trying to narrow down your repair store.

I cracked my phone while in Singapore and went to a nice repair shop, I can give you the address if interested. These https://breakfixnow.com.sg/ are the guys that I'm talking about. I cracked the display in the back, so I had to have it all replaced, thankfully I read about the process before I went to find a repair shop so I would know if I was getting scammed. The first repair shop that I went to tried to take all the money that they could off of me, but as I said, thankfully I knew it's not right. Then I found these guys that are real professionals and they did the job amazingly, with no complaints.

Sorry Max, I have also used breakfixnow to replace the battery and the C port on my Samsung Note 8. Total repair bill was $100 with a 3 month guarantee. That was around 6 months ago. Still works great. They actually have several locations around the island. I used the storefront shop at Bugis. They also now have delivery services as well.

Granted the thread is about CD repair, but while the guy is a troll and cannot post anymore, the link is valid and I can also recommend. I saw it on the 25th but left it after I checked the link.
